Press releases are often used by employees working in any SEO company India to get links and improve website’s search engine ranking. However, like every other SEO methods such as blogging and guest posting, professionals exploit press releases massively and publish completely worthless content to misguide Google.
Last month, Matt Cutts said that links from press releases won’t help a website’s ranking. That one comment spread like fire in the social media networks and people started claiming that PR’s are not useful anymore. They didn’t even realize that it’s just a one line comment and Matt didn’t explain anything regarding Google’s official quality control policy.
The main problem with SEO industry is lack of attention and education. So-called optimizing experts often pay attention to baseless statements and start doing things that are not so important. What is the outcome of their actions? Their sites get punished by Google.
What is the problem? – The issue with press releases is the same as other SEO tools. Nobody cares about quality. Everyday, thousands of PR’s are published online but unfortunately most of them don’t contain any valuable data. Content writers write crappy, promotional content about their clients’ business and upload those PR’s to get links. What makes the situation even worse is the attitude of PR submission sites. They either don’t have any editorial policy or even if they do, the rules and regulations are such that any SEO company India can exploit them.
Why do they accept low quality content? The common answer is “Google loves fresh content. So, we accept as many PR’s as possible.”
Sustainable SEO likes PR’s – Yes; whatever I said about press releases in previous paragraphs is true but in spite of the negative qualities, it will not lose its importance in the SEO industry so easily.
So, what’s the truth? – If you really follow Matt Cutts and are aware of his passion to keep World Wide Web spam free, you must have realized the true meaning of his comment. I believe what Matt meant to say is that PR submission sites are so polluted now that links coming from those sites are not valuable anymore. It signifies press release itself has lost its importance.
Let’s talk about another concept that is floating in the market. Say, if a really well-written press release is released and a popular news site picks up that PR, then that link coming from a news site can actually be beneficial for SEO. This is a valid point considering Matt’s statement.
It’s still valuable – Whether Google pays or does not pay attention to the links and from where the press releases acquire those links, they are still very important. When you write a truly informative press release with valid data, people like it and visit your site to get more information. So, it may not help you get links but the ultimate aim of SEO is to drive the online traffic towards your website and a quality PR can do that successfully.
If you run a SEO company India, then don’t get confused by what Matt says. Try to understand what he means. Press releases are not dead yet and you can certainly use them for optimization purpose as long as you don’t spread spam.

According to Matt Cutts there is no use of press releases for improving your rank status in SERP. But it is still considered to be the most effective way to make important announcements regarding your business.
